David P. Pepe | Sports Law & Personal Injury Attorney

David P. Pepe is a shareholder with the law firm of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, P.A., concentrating his practice in sports law and personal injury litigation.  He was a member of the Rutgers University varsity wrestling team between 1982 and 1983.  While attending Seton Hall University School of Law, he was a founding member of the Seton Hall Sports Law Journal and between 1988-1989 was a summer associate for the New York Yankees.  Mr. Pepe also worked as an associate at Ribis, Graham & Curtin in Morristown, NJ where he developed a sports law practice.  Mr. Pepe is a certified baseball agent by the Major League Baseball Players Association.

Mr. Pepe has represented numerous professional baseball players and is the managing agent of Pro Agents, Inc. (a subsidiary of the Wilentz firm) that has a client roster of over thirty professional athletes. Mr. Pepe negotiated, among many other professional contracts, the largest guaranteed contract for any closer in MLB history at that time (2008).

In addition to his vast experience in the field of athlete representation, Mr. Pepe has represented hundreds of individuals in personal injury matters and has received one of the highest verdicts in New Jersey history in a “verbal threshold” unoperated herniated disc case.

Mr. Pepe is also a part time lecturer at Rutgers University, teaching a course in Labor Relations.

Mr. Pepe was named the Civil Trial Attorney of the Year for 2016 by the Middlesex County Bar Association. Since 2006, Mr. Pepe has been recognized as a leading Entertainment & Sports attorney by Super Lawyers.
